AutoCAD Structural Detailing 2013 - Service Pack SP2 Released

If you running AutoCAD Structural Detailing 2013 then you will be glad to know Autodesk have now released Service Pack SP2, available for download: ASD 2013 - SP2.



AutoCAD Structural Detailing 2013 Update 2 provides fixes for defects in the following areas:

AutoCAD Structural Detailing - Reinforcement
Service Pack 1
·        Adding the viewports generated as blocks to the drawing.
·        The reinforcement tables definition after database modification.

Service Pack 2
·        Improved stability during wire fabric definition by using pick-point command.

AutoCAD Structural Detailing - Steel
Service Pack 1
·        The structure transfer between AutoCAD Structural Detailing Steel and Autodesk® Robot™ Structural Analysis Professional.
·        Incorrect displaying AutoCAD Structural Detailing objects saved as ACIS objects.
·        Incorrect result of modification in base and endplate connections.
·        Incorrect value of levels displayed in description of elevation marks.

Service Pack 2
·        Improved Fit to object command for pipe elements.
·        Improved stability of Pipes- flanges connection after the modification.
·        Improved cut-by-line command.
·        Improved stability of engineering drawings generation.
·        Description improvements for doubled welds.
·        Not displayed shapes of hoops in some steel cages for American template.
·        Improved stability while loading template via AutoCAD Structural Detailing centre.

AutoCAD Structural Detailing - all modules
Service Pack 1

·        Impossibility to select and change the colour of layer, line type or line weight in the existing objects in case of ribbon menu of AutoCAD Structural Detailing 2013.

Revit-Reinforcement Render

I have been looking Reinforcement in Revit and how its exported to AutoCAD Structural Detailing.  

I will be write something about Revit's interaction with AutoCAD Structural Detailing soon and post a blog about, so look out for it.

In the mean time I have put a little render I created showing the reinforcement in a trench inside my test model.

AutoCAD Structural Detailing 2013 - System Requirements

If you are looking to run AutoCAD Structural Detailing you might want to see what spec of machine you will need. Below is the standard spec Autodesk recommend you have to run ASD on a 32bit and 64bit machine.

For 32-Bit AutoCAD Structural Detailing 2013
  • Microsoft® Windows® 7 Enterprise, Ultimate, Professional or Home Premium edition, Microsoft® Windows Vista® (SP2) Enterprise, Business, Ultimate, or Home Premium edition, or Microsoft® Windows® XP Professional or Home edition (SP3 or later)
  • For Windows Vista and Windows 7: Intel® Pentium® 4 or AMD Athlon® dual-core processor, 3.0 GHz or greater with SSE2 technology
  • For Windows XP: Intel Pentium 4 or AMD Athlon dual-core processor, 1.6 GHz or greater with SSE2 technology
  • 3 GB RAM (4 GB recommended)
  • 6 GB free disk space for default install, 6 GB hard disk space available after installation
  • Video card 1,280 x 1,024 true color
  • Microsoft® Internet Explorer® 7.0 (or later)
  • Microsoft Mouse-compliant pointing device
  • DVD drive (for installation only)

For 64-Bit AutoCAD Structural Detailing 2013
  • Windows 7 Enterprise, Ultimate, Professional, or Home Premium edition or Windows Vista Enterprise, Business, Ultimate, or Home Premium edition (SP2 or later)
  • AMD Athlon™ 64 with SSE2 technology, AMD Opteron™ with SSE2 technology, Intel® Xeon® with Intel EM64T support with SSE2 technology, or Intel Pentium 4 with Intel EM64T support with SSE2 technology
